Obituary For Sarah Louise Newitt

Sarah Louise Newitt age 34 passed away at Vancouver General Hospital on Friday 26th January 2024.

Sarah was born 26th July 1989 in Townsville, Queensland, Australia to her parents Robyn and John Newitt. Much loved by her siblings Wayne (Katrina Coleman) and Mark Newitt, by her partner Ben Griffith-Zahner and his family and by her Grandparents, Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, Nephews and Cousins of the Newitt, Smedley, Crane and Benton Families.

Sarah was a happy outgoing girl growing up in Townsville, alongside her protective brothers Wayne and Mark.

Sarah completed school to year 12. The highlight for her school years were her friends and her first overseas trip with a student exchange program to USA, visiting Mexico and home stay/school in Seattle. Thus began her love of travel.

Sarah only worked to save money and travel the world with friends and alone. Always making more friends along the way and always returning home before setting off again.

All her travels were leading up to living in London and then living in Canada.

Sarah had a curious mind and a passion for art, literature, movies and music. She could recall obscure facts and historical information at will.

Sarah found her place in Canada. She loved the Canadian lifestyle, new friends, new experiences and decided this would be the place she would stay.

After living in Canada for a few years Sarah met her soulmate Ben. They made plans to move to Prince Rupert and begin a wonderful life. Our sweet girl found her place to spread her roots and the person she was to be with. When tragedy struck Sarah and Ben’s plans were abruptly cut short.

Sarah’s memory and legacy will be forever held in our hearts. Rest in peace our beautiful girl. You will live on in the countless lives you touched.

I met Sarah in London through our bookclub and we learned we were North London neighbours. This quickly turned into frequent weekend brunch dates and North London exploring adventures. Lots of laughter and fond memories over our years together in the UK. Throughout covid, we would calculate timezones so that the four of us from North London could catch-up and reconnect. Sarah seemed to truly love her life in Vancouver. She was a beam of light and always a joy. I was so sad to hear this news. Sarah, you were so loved and you will be very greatly missed! <3 To her family and loved ones, sending you so much love and strength during this time. She was a special one who will be fondly remembered. -- Lynn

Sarah came into my life at my book club and we quickly became thick as thieves. She lived around the corner from me in London and we spent many an evening at mine hanging out or having brunch with a couple of other ladies who also lived in the area (aka the Nth ldn ladies). I showed the Nrth Ldn ladies all my fave spots in London and we became a very tight group. During covid Sarah and the nrth ldn ladies kept me sane and we'd have these "quick" calls to catch up that would end up lasting hours. I couldn't have asked for a better friend. When she left London, Sarah left me with her fav scarf and often when I wear it I send her a lil message saying where she'd been with me. Now it will be even more of a treasure and will forever be my way to have a hug from her. Love you Sarah, sleep tight xxxx
